A ceramic cat urn needs a place where it can sit level, stay clear of traffic, and be handled without reaching around other objects. A good display does not have to be large. It does need enough room for the urn's full footprint and for your hands when you dust or move it.
Choose the shelf before arranging photographs, collars, or keepsakes. Once the urn has a stable position, the rest of the memorial can fit around it.
Measure the shelf depth and the urn footprint
The current Wayhome ceramic cat urn measures 15 cm long, 14 cm wide, and 17 cm high. The shelf should support the full 15 cm by 14 cm footprint without any part of the base extending beyond the edge.

Leave room above and on both sides
The listed height is 17 cm, but a shelf opening that is exactly 17 cm high is too tight for normal handling. Leave space above the ears and enough room on both sides for your hands.
If the urn sits inside a cabinet, open and close the door before final placement. Check that the door, hinge, and frame do not touch the urn or the objects beside it.
Choose a quiet part of the room
A low-traffic shelf is safer than a narrow ledge beside a doorway. Avoid places where bags, coats, curtains, or charging cables can catch the urn. If children or pets use the room, a closed cabinet may be a better choice than an open shelf.
Keep the urn away from the front edge. A few extra centimeters can make routine cleaning much easier and reduce the chance of contact as someone passes.
Check the surface under the base
The shelf should be level, clean, dry, and strong enough for the complete display. Check for warped boards, loose brackets, and uneven joints before placing the urn.
If you use a mat or liner, choose one that lies completely flat and does not slide on the shelf. Test it before adding the urn. Avoid thick fabric, curled edges, loose fringe, or adhesive pads unless the urn maker has approved them.
Give nearby objects their own space
A photograph, collar, or tag can sit beside the urn, but it should not lean against the ceramic. Use a stable frame and leave enough distance that it cannot strike the urn if it tips.
Do not hang a collar around the urn unless the design and maker's instructions allow it. Decorative ears, a bell, and other sculpted details are not handles or supports.
Plan how you will dust the shelf
Before adding more objects, imagine removing each item for cleaning. You should be able to reach the urn with both hands and lift it from the body and base without touching the shelf above.

Recheck the display after moving furniture
A shelf that was stable in one position may sit differently after a move. Check the floor, furniture feet, shelf brackets, and door clearance again. Do not assume that the previous arrangement is still safe.
If you move homes often, keep the urn's original packaging. Ask the maker how to pack the exact design before transport.
