Dimensions on a product page are useful, but they can be difficult to imagine in a room. A paper footprint and a simple height marker let you test a ceramic cat urn's fit before you order. This method checks the shelf, the view, and the space your hands need to lift the urn safely.
Start with the published dimensions
Wayhome's current ceramic cat urn is listed as 15 cm long, 14 cm wide, and 17 cm high, with a published capacity of 700 ml. Length, width, and height describe the outside of the urn. Capacity describes the space inside; it is a separate question that should be confirmed with the cremation provider.

Make a 15 x 14 cm paper footprint
Cut a rectangle of paper or cardboard measuring 15 by 14 cm. Place it on the shelf, cabinet, or table where you are considering the urn. The entire template should rest on a level surface with space between it and the edge.
Do not treat the template as the final minimum. Leave extra space around it so the ceramic base cannot be bumped by a frame, vase, book, or opening cabinet door.
Mark the 17 cm height
Use removable painter's tape on the wall, or stand a ruler beside the footprint, to mark 17 cm. Check the clearance beneath the shelf above. Upright ears make the silhouette feel taller than a plain box, so look at the marker from across the room as well as up close.
Keep enough open space above the 17 cm mark for your fingers and hands. You should not need to tilt the urn sharply or touch the ears to remove it from the shelf.
Add lifting clearance around the template
Place both hands around the paper as if you were supporting the main ceramic body. If a wall, frame, or cabinet side blocks either hand, the location is too tight. Try a deeper shelf or remove nearby objects.
Decorative parts such as the ears, collar, and bell are not handles. Plan a path that lets you slide your hands around the body and keep one hand beneath the urn when moving it.
Check the shelf itself
Press gently on the empty shelf and open nearby drawers or doors. If the surface shakes, shifts, or flexes, choose a more stable location. Keep the footprint away from shelf edges, busy walkways, plant water, heat, and open flames.
If the furniture is tall or narrow, consider whether it is secured appropriately for your home. Children and pets can turn a quiet corner into an active area.
Test the viewing distance
Leave the paper template and height marker in place for a day. Look at it from the doorway, sofa, bed, or desk. A 17 cm sculpted urn may read like a small ceramic figure nearby and a simple cat silhouette from farther away.
