A dog urn has to work as a container, but it also becomes part of the room. The most useful way to choose one is to check capacity first, then compare the sculpted shape, exterior dimensions, color and opening.
Start with the required capacity
Ask your cremation provider what volume you need and how the remains will be returned. Do this before choosing a design by breed or appearance. Dogs of the same breed can differ greatly in size, and the amount of cremated remains also varies.
Wayhome's current ceramic dog designs have published capacities from 1,150 ml to 3,200 ml. The breed names describe the sculpture. They are not a substitute for checking the actual volume you need.

Choose the shape by recognition, not the label alone
A sculpted dog urn does not have to be an exact portrait to feel familiar. You may respond to the ears, muzzle, coat texture, posture or collar. Look at the full front, side and rear views rather than judging from one cropped image.
Wayhome currently has five ceramic dog forms:
- Bulldog and Boston Terrier, with a published capacity of 1,150 ml.
- Terrier, with a published capacity of 1,200 ml.
- Teddy, Bichon and Poodle, with a published capacity of 1,400 ml.
- Husky, German Shepherd and Shiba, with a published capacity of 2,800 ml.
- Labrador and Golden Retriever, with a published capacity of 3,200 ml.

Measure the shelf before ordering
Dog urns in the current collection differ in height and footprint. The Terrier design is 15 cm long, 14 cm wide and 23 cm high. The Husky, German Shepherd and Shiba design is 21 cm long, 19 cm wide and 31 cm high. The Labrador and Golden Retriever design has the largest footprint at 23 cm by 21 cm.
Measure the exact shelf, cabinet or table where the urn will sit. Leave room around the ears and collar. You also need clear space above the urn so you can lift it without touching a shelf or frame.
Compare Ivory White and Obsidian Black in the room
Each current dog form is available in Ivory White and Obsidian Black. The dimensions and published capacity stay the same across the two colors of the same design.
Ivory White has lower contrast against pale walls and light wood. Obsidian Black stands out more beside a light photograph or on an open shelf. Neither is more appropriate for remembrance. Choose the one that feels natural in the room where it will stay.
Look closely at the handmade ceramic surface
The current product descriptions note that small black or gray spots, bottom scratches or grind marks can occur on handmade pieces. Review close photographs of the face, collar, coat texture and base. If a particular surface detail matters to you, contact Wayhome before purchasing.
Ceramic also needs a stable display surface. Avoid narrow shelves, busy walkways and places where a child or another pet could knock the urn over.
Check the opening before moving the ashes
The current product pages describe a 90 degree rotation followed by a lift. Read the instructions for the specific urn before use. Keep the cremated remains in their sealed bag unless the cremation provider advises otherwise, and never force the bag or temporary container through the opening.
